The artist was inspired by her childhood memories. Her father is an entomologist, and every year he goes on an expedition to the mountains to look for new species of beetles.
The artist remembers those moments when his father would come back, and they would project slides of his photographs of the Caucasus onto the wallpaper. They looked fantastic to her!
The artist imagined herself as a traveller on horseback, immersed in his dreams, watching the clouds cross the sky and turn into riders. This painting is a self-portrait, because we all have that part of us that needs moments of solitude, calm and serenity. Contemplating the beauty of nature can reveal important things about us.
