    Description

The artist uses line drawings to express "something invisible but important that is right there.
and leads the viewer to notice it and to positive emotions.
and lead the viewer to positive emotions.

As the auspicious phrase "catch the wave" suggests
I wanted to draw a picture that can be displayed and be useful.

But life is not always about being able to ride the wave.
In my paintings, there are children who have caught the wave and those who have yet to do so.

Regardless of which situation they are in now, the way they are challenging themselves to ride the wave
It's very cool to see them challenging themselves to ride the wave.
It is really difficult to "keep going" at anything.
I want to support people like that, who continue to aim for the wave no matter how old they are.

This fune-like character has wings on his head like dandelion fluff.
Like dandelion fluff, this fune-like character has wings on its head, and can use its momentum to swim to the sky.
I hope that he will be able to swim to the sky with the same momentum that he had on Nami.

  • About this artist

    Concept

Satoko Aoki's works are based on the theme of "invisible things" such as emotions, sounds, and smells. The mysterious line drawings, which seem to move back and forth "between concrete and abstract," are based on the "noise" that floods the artist's brain on a daily basis, and their continual fluctuation makes them a discovery each time they are viewed and keeps the viewer interested. What used to be a negative "noise" is transformed into a positive "sound" when expressed as art. Through his unique worldview, he continues to create artwork that tells a positive story and makes us feel positive. In recent years, using acrylic paint and canvas, which are popular materials for paintings, he has been creating works that incorporate many of the "advantages of dyeing" that he felt while dyeing, such as drawing lines like yuzen dyeing and reproducing the blurring and shibori that are characteristic of dyeing. As a former dyeing artist, this is a new attempt to "express dyeing without dyeing," focusing on the "concept" of dyeing.
