Arowana, the dragonfish, is a very ancient fish. It is a contemporary of dinosaurs and mammoths. Paleontologists find its remains from the Jurassic period. That is, it has been living on Earth for at least 100 million years. But not at all fishs' rich historical past has made it the most desirable aquarium fish. And the taste of its meat has nothing to do with it. Contrary, nowadays, few people will allow themselves so low to treat it. Some Southeast Asian countries have even declared Arowana in their national treasure. They established them as sacred animals strictly protected by law. The secret of such unusual popularity lies in the fact that the dragonfish is a powerful living talisman of Feng Shui, which has, according to its supporters, specific magical properties and brings good luck.
This painting is a part of my series "Sense of Sea"
I used gold, copper, and red-gold paint for this work to make it shine in the light and shimmer like fish scales.
The artwork is painted on stretched canvas (cotton 30x70cm), with a hanger on velvet back.
Also, you can check out all from the collection "Sense of Sea" on canvas in different sizes.
The work is signed on the front and also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Thanks for watching!
