Anxiety and pride

As for the background of this work, it was created when I participated in a special exhibition, the purpose of which was to support medical professionals and institutions by submitting a work of art in the midst of Japan's first declared state of emergency due to the new type of corona. I painted this work with very mixed feelings: those who were still standing on the front lines and myself in a safe place. I painted this work with very complicated feelings. The clothes of the person standing in the middle were scraped off finely with a knife to bring out the colors underneath (mixed colors). I expressed that medical personnel also have suffering and pain far beyond my imagination. Yet he continues to stand with dignity, his yellow eyes holding a bright hope that the world can be at peace. An orange aura surrounds his entire body as the pride of his mission.
