Recently, I took part in a charity auction, where 3 paintings based on Mariupol city were painted.
The painting "We Will Remember" was created as a continuation of the theme of memories of this city. Mariupol was almost completely destroyed due to the actions of Russian troops in the East of Ukraine.
On May 9, 2022, all of Ukraine was waiting with bated breath. We expected the Russian president to make a statement about an even greater escalation of hostilities.
The painting was created based on Sopino, a village near Mariupol, Donetsk region. A field with poppies near the city.
Poppy in Ukraine was chosen as a symbol of memory and sorrow for all those who died in the Second World War. And now, when the military of the Russian Federation is sent to destroy the cities of Ukraine, I want to say again - we remember everything! The living and the dead. We remember with what courage our people defend the country at the forefront. We remember how the residents of calmer regions rallied together to work as volunteers and help in the rear with the preparation of humanitarian aid for people from the affected regions.
Ukraine and the whole world will remember. And after the victory, all the states of the world must prescribe such norms in the world code of conduct of countries in order to immediately discourage anyone from attacking their neighbors.
