Concept

The Valencian artist Empar Boix explores the representative limits of the figure of contemporary women with a bold and avant-garde vision.
Boix conveys her concern for women who have been silenced throughout history. She recovers them, magnifies them and places them in a magical universe where they can express themselves. Inert or in movement, in a vulnerable or defiant attitude, the models pose and exhibit themselves masterfully on backgrounds of Fauvist heritage, using the intensity of colour as an expressive element. The depth of the gaze or the exaggeration in the proportions of the face and limbs are translated into a very personal figurative expressionism.

With a language inspired by the confluence of the real and the imaginary, Empar Boix approaches the essence of the female and her attributes. From her gestures emerge the emotions, the most sublime and intuitive impulses. She incorporates the enigmatic link that unites her with nature through the animal figure and its symbolism.


In the technique she uses acrylic on canvas with incursions to transfer, watercolor and spray, generating a scenery rich in textures, freshness and luminosity. Although spontaneity is a constant in her production, we can appreciate the mastery of drawing, the use of color and the construction of space that show the conscious artistic quality of Empar in her evolution towards abstraction.
