Beach Scene II - acrylic on canvas; 24x36”; In another exploration of our i-device world, I’ve returned to the beach, where everybody is interacting with a phone. I find beaches to be so lovely and peaceful, and when it's filled with interesting people and colorful beach towels and umbrellas, it's irresistible to my artistic heart. Even as I’m making fun of our love affair with screens, I’m love the visual excitement of the beautiful people, colors and shapes. I’m also quite taken with the guy standing in the middle, who's either taking a selfie with the ocean, or a shot of the sunbathers. This acrylic painting is not a huge piece but it's bright busy colors make a big splash on the wall. It's on 2" thick home-built stretchers, so it has a substantial feel. The canvas is painted on the sides so it needs no frame.
