The painting is part of the "Masters Remixed" series, in which old masters paintings are transfered to the digital world, where they get changed like a remix in the music world and then taken back to the analog stage. In this case, a still life painting by Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder (in this case "Tulips, Rose, Carnations, Lily of the Valley, Forget-Me-Nots and Other Flowers in a Vase" from 1619 is enlarged from 28.5x19.5cm to 130x105cm. There´s also been a 1980's figure (Cringer from Mattel's Masters of the Universe) added. On the one hand, the interaction of the two positions creates tension, but on the other hand they harmonize very well with each other. The noble, timeless appearance of Bosschaert's composition also dominates the new work, but in combination with the action figure it looks young and fresh.
