This acrylic painting is part of my Ad Series, a body of work that utilizes the mid-century advertising aesthetic to address the social and political issues faced by those who work in the arts. This painting is a parody of an old World War II-era poster warning soldiers of prostitutes, and has been altered to warn the public about the dangers of associating with "liberals," "artists," "Darwinists," and "secularists." Acrylic paint and bright red accents have been applied to bring this 1940s design into the mid-century era, along with a hard-edge style of painting prevalent in the 1960s.
