Power. She is powerful, raw, bold...This piece has a strong pull, almost like a magnet, with a bold silhouette outline of a female figure. Here, JuanCarlos is travelling to his Afro-Caribbean roots, paying homage to the strong and powerful female figures from his childhood. The vivid color combination of orange, yellow and black give it a striking look. JuanCarlos uses his signature streaks over the figure, carefully placing red dots in the middle of each streak. The addition of ink dots to the background give this piece a feel of texture.
The Silhouettes series is the beginning of JuanCarlos' practice at 15 years old. It was then, and still is, his roots, his neutral zone that brings him back to ground, when his explorations take him too far into the self...
”I love exploring the female figure, as it is the ultimate form, the Mother Nature herself.”
Fun fact - JuanCarlos donates 100% of his profit to an animal rescue mission called ArtToSaveLives, which he has been a part of since 2006, together with his manager.
