This is part of a series of paintings and sketches, views from the Lake of Zürich and its surrounding mountains as seen and reinterpreted by the artist.
He imagines the mountains and lake in a very romantic sense, avoids giving a very precise view of the Uetliberg mountains, but rather an idyllic image. He mixes reality and his own perception of how the landscape might have looked without the buildings.
Getting his inspiration from what he saw during a walk in Zürichberg, he composes an idealised landscape, where Nature displays all the beauty of its might and power.
