Concept

Chika Shinoda: Contemporary artist / message artist born and currently residing in Tokyo! Because I want to draw various pictures that come to my mind at that moment. Based on the series concept of "Darkness and Poison Lurking in Cuteness", which is a catchy and pop series using girls as motifs, and the series "Black Humor Based on Urban Legends and Conspiracy Theories to Speak Out Against Politics and Society", she creates works that look cute and pop on the surface, but inside they are eerie, insane, and sad. The series is based on the concept of "black humor based on urban legends and conspiracy theories that speak out against politics and society. This concept was born to express my own inner light and darkness as an artist, as well as to criticize and warn against the hypocrisy and superficial beauty that occurs in modern society. I do not use caricatures as mere criticism or warning bells, but rather I add <可愛らしさ>and <カラフルなポップさ>to draw the viewer's gaze and deliver the message behind the caricatures*. Although there is an answer, it is not a meaning that can be understood at first glance, but rather it requires the viewer to dig deep and think "with their own mind" to understand the meaning, which encourages the viewer to think and "see art" in a different way. I also draw "The soul of Asia" series featuring Asian culture, myths, and legends out of respect for my country and Asian culture, having been born and raised Japanese. With vivid colors and bold, innovative expressions, his works have an energy that attracts viewers and gives them the power to survive in this absurd world "like a human being".
