    Description

A king that is stuck in motion with little to base their reality around. Chess was an inspiration to this piece with the surrounding chess pieces swirling around the "king" himself. The background itself is loosely based on the checkered to square pattern of the game.

The crown itself is pieced like a puzzle with a clock located on the side right above his ear. His royal mantle flows towards the left direction along with the chess pieces.

    Concept

Each piece represents a mood of the time. So, I purposely try to give them individuality and a personality. Color has always been a wonderful addition to constructing a piece because of how much movement happens whether paining/drawing a place or character. I love to paint with the entire color palette if possible, but I know there can be limits with spacing, so I try to keep control. I love to combine prior influence with newer influence to see what comes together. Abstract and Impressionism pieces are not so divided in theory but they both have their ways of explaining a similar scenario. Representation over the set limitations.

I believe in utilizing every inch of the canvas not restricting the size of the idea. Color has become a center point in planning a piece, which always for more movement in some cases. The simple concept of movement inspires newer work all the time.

I’m a storyteller that has a viewpoint from many angles if allowed. Restriction doesn’t limit potential but inspires me to center the idea into a broader mindset. I will always create ways to tell a more coherent story while the color directs a clearer view. If the color is too blinding a minimalist view is a clearer option. While color presents a certain characteristic so does lines of black or white. I’m not afraid to work with that presentation when needed.
