From the series "Tears"
Rhinos are in serious danger of extinction, their illegal hunting and loss of their habitat is practically leading them to their disappearance. Few are left free in Africa's nature reserves. In some African ranches, attempts are being made to reproduce the species. Zoos in the world also have breeding programs, but it is not enough.
It is unfortunate that iconic species on the planet are in the same situation. This work is a reminder that we must take action. It starts from home, educating, talking with current and new generations to raise awareness not to buy products from wild species.
The black in the background represents mourning for so much slaughter. The copper-colored tears symbolize Africa's pain at having one more endangered species. The golden lines that the white rhinoceros traverse is a kind of Voodoo, to heal the wounds that humanity makes to this unique species in nature. The letters represent all the promises and words that are said to save a species; however, they are empty words, so they are chaotically scattered
The work was made with paste for texture, acrylic and textile paint on canvas.
