This painting, like its sister piece "Summoning Spirit", arose from Parhelion examining symbols, sigils, and occult images like those found in African religions - the veves of vodou or the patipembas of palo. These paintings are part of a deliberate exercise in exploring images that arise from the Deep Mind; to obtain those symbols an artist must explore his or her mental depths the concepts and visions s/he finds there. This painting, “Conjuring the Spirit Vision”, depicts the process of going within, looking through the lens of imagination into the hidden spirit worlds that lie within and beyond, and then bringing those images to the forefront of the mind’s eye.
