This work shows Parhelion’s idea of the occult mind of the fabled magus, King Solomon. Even now, Solomon is revered for his magical ability to call up and command spirits, and Western ceremonial magicians still summon them into a binding triangle from the safety of a circle. Parhelion took some time to consider and then execute this painting, as geometric drawing is very different from his usual style. It shows the magick circle with the magician (pentagram) standing in it; the hexagram of union is his heart. The triangle is before him, waiting to be filled with one of the 72 spirits fluttering in the space around him. God names and angelical script surround the circle and triangle for protection. Oh, and yes, there are 72 flicked spatters of paint representing the spirits and their sigils!
