For this work "A New Season", Piccinelli had made a very detailed project, very finished on paper. He paints large formats on canvas, from projects and he sometimes transposes into large format what he has done in small format by slightly modifying a color, a texture, a trace or a splash.
But for this painting, he had almost finished the project and he realized that he felt no emotion.
He finally kept the 2 dominant colors and completely changed direction. If this canvas had been X-rayed, the observer would be very surprised! He could see the major changes made by the painter who went from chaos to serenity. Piccinelli thinks it's worth turning upside down a composition that looks nice to achieve a result that communicates more emotion and creative force.
