This artwork seeks to explore the split in the psyche of Man, divided between worldly affairs and that of the spiritual,
the realm of the dead versus the living. This idea is expressed by the juxtaposition of monochromatic strokes against
the foreground of heads and figures representing memories and experiences in the form of lost loves,
such symbols further pronounced with the stark use of primary colours.
The varied use of patterns and impressions suggest a certain fragmentation at the heart of the matter,
creating shifts in culture, heritage and meaning all at once. All of this culminates in the figurative death of
the flesh-coloured pair at the center of the painting itself, representing at last the metaphorical, dualistic
struggle of Man himself to make sense of the chaos that is modern living.
