I've been born and raised in the German town Constance where the lake of Constance meets river Rhein. At a city center, there is a bridge over the river, where a big bulk of seaweed is floating within the water, underneath the surface, moving along with every minor change of the currents under that bridge. Literally every time I happen to cross that bridge, I stop and stare at it for a while. The fascination seems to have stuck somewhere in my subconscious and have emerged again, now that I have not been able to travel to my home town and see my parents for quite a while...
The artist hopes that this work finds a new home together with "upsurge" , since the two do not form a diptych but a close couple.
