“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” - F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
And again, I found inspiration in classical literature. The novel "The Great Gatsby" is one of the most significant works of classical American literature of the 20th century, since it covers the very crucial period in US history when human fates were broken in the pursuit of the "American dream". In the foreground is a love line. But personally, I perceive it as a result. In my opinion, the main theme is the problem of emptiness in the human soul. Someone from the characters of this emptiness does not feel, taking everything for granted, someone is trying to fill this emptiness with external attributes ... This is a story about unfulfilled dreams and empty hopes, the disappointment of American society, which embodies the image of Nick Carraway because he is the only one who solved the riddle of Gatsby and at the same time remained loyal to him to the end.
