«Anyone whose goal is “something higher” must expect someday to suffer vertigo. What is vertigo? Fear of falling? No, Vertigo is something other than fear of falling. It is the voice of the emptiness below us which tempts and lures us, it is the desire to fall, against which, terrified, we defend ourselves.» - Milan Kundera.
When I had read this quote, I could not get it out of my head. These words exactly describe the modern high-tech, high-competitive, rapidly changing society. After all, our life often passes by the Olympic motto “Faster! Higher! Stronger!". In my opinion, vertigo is not the fear of falling, it is the fear of not having time, the fear of losing, the fear of showing your weaknesses.
That's what I was thinking about when I was painting this work.
