Nature is basically cruel, and we cut through it with all our might, processing and controlling it to build a safe and cultural basis for our lives, but the selfless and unrestrained nature, which supposedly thinks nothing of it, always turns on its fangs in ways that outwit us. One such example, a raging river feared since ancient times, has been preserved in ancient mythology as various serpent motifs. They are "Jormungard," the serpent that surrounds the world, "Naga," the serpent god, and the eight-forked serpent that straddles the eight valleys. They swallow everything, torture, constrict, and swallow humans. I painted this half-belief-like form of awe. The support is gofun, applied to canvas. The medium is acrylic paint.
