The bunny girl, wearing sexy clothes with rabbit ears, is an image created for men in the United States in the 1960s, but it is also seen in gravure and anime characters in Japan. Simply wearing ears gives the impression of being cute, sexy, etc., but when a woman wears the rabbit itself, it somehow creates an incongruous and grotesque impression. This work depicts a bunny girl, based on the motif of the pinup girl, a picture of sexy women that the U.S. military pasted on fighter planes and other aircraft during World War II to raise the war spirit. This work arose from a sense of discomfort about the image of women being consumed.
