I have been painting holy beasts that I see in meditation experiences for a long time now. Recently, we have seen more and more phantasms as a motif unique to Japan in contemporary art.
The Japanese are a unique people who have never lost their affinity and faith in sacred beasts and phantasms. Even in modernized cities, holy beasts are roaming the streets. Although the exorcism of the street in the Corona disaster doesn't ring a bell, I felt the need to depict the holy beasts that symbolize the after-corona.
Gryphons appear in the temples of ancient civilizations. Will the gods, who are more ancient in their popular beliefs than nations and kings, be revived today?
