    Description

Chizuko Ninomiya converted the full sentence of the famous civil precedent case during the early Showa era called ‘Kafe maru tama jokyu jiken’ into a shift JIS code and expressed as a painting.
In 1958, there is a customer tried to convince a hostess in a night club, Maru Tama by paying 400 Japanese yen for the future investment. However, since the customer didn’t pay the money, the hostess brought the trial to get the money. In the end, The High Court said that the 400 yen receivable can be retained if it is fulfilled, but it cannot be enforced if it is not fulfilled.

  • About this artist

    Concept

Chizuko Ninomiya majored in law as a student, and after working as a system engineer (SE) at a financial institution, she is now working as a contemporary art artist.
What she is interested in has two things in common: "rules" and "results".
Whether it is laws that regulate the way society is run, programs that work as they are written in advance, or mathematical and financial engineering that decipher the world.
This has a lot to do with the writer's own sense of guilt that he often disregards the principles he has set for himself.

Her production style takes the form of lifelong "research".
She creates works with various concepts as "hypotheses," conducts "demonstrative experiments" in the form of exhibitions, collects "logs," and then confirms, analyzes, and reconsiders them.

With the spread of mobile devices, we have more opportunities to see images and other images that are the results of system processing, but we are rarely aware of the processes and programs that are running behind the scenes.
In recent years, she has been trying to present program language as a work of art. By reconstructing them as paintings, she is trying to "shed light on the invisible.
In addition, using Twitter as a platform, she has created installation works that advocate "online social sculpture" that focuses on the "simultaneity of actions".
