Snow Memory Series
Memory of Snow No.56
I was born in a snowy country in Japan.
For me, snow is a motif in which various memories reside.
However, not only me but also human beings accumulate memories and also forget them.
As time passes, memories are exposed to the whirlpool of oblivion, their clarity disappears, and they simply drift around in my mind as vague images with a hint of abstraction.
Memory of Snow" depicts a fragment of my memory of the snow country where I spent 23 years.
The color, coldness, and temperature of the snow, its texture that is sometimes moist and sometimes dry, and its ability to reflect light.
In this way, snow has a variety of expressions.
The colors of street signs and neon lights, crowds of people and cars, the sky, mountains, dead trees, sand wrapped around the ground to prevent slipping, the dirty ground from melting snow, and the slippery ice.
Snow and all these images that come to mind with it are drifting around in my mind chaotically.
I can't say all of them, but some of them remind me of snow, and that is the landing point to complete this work.
The "Memory of Snow" series is a series of paintings that incorporate my own memories of snow.
The work is framed by attaching a wooden panel of the same size as the canvas from the back.
The size of the work is shown before the panel is attached.
