The work is made by printing his own images on a base of silver foil using UV ink-jet printing. The work is created by layering layers of paint using various materials such as mineral pigments, resin, modeling paste, acrylics, and mediums. The concept of Overwrite (overwriting information, emotions, and self-experience) is the basis of his work. Information, including emotions and experiences stored in the brain, can be useful with positive intentions, or it can be a negative trigger that torments oneself. SHIKATA believes that the reason for this is that the information is stored in the brain based on one's own experiences, and has since continued to exist as information memory that is not updated. By overwriting the information stored in the brain, either intentionally or unconsciously, SHIKATA creates a new entity that is different from the original information, and he believes that it is possible to face past experiences and negative triggers with respect.
