Almond Blossom is a tribute to Vincent Van Gogh to his tremendous capacity to pour himself into each brushstroke, it is a tribute to his and my love for Japan.
This original artwork has been created with a bespoke technique, it is composed by 3 CONCRETE panels measuring 60cm x 120 cm stunned with Raku Ceramic tiles made one by one.
The mosaic is immersed into the concrete mix creating the feeling that is almost carved in.
The colours and the gestures of the ceramics are instinctive, the space created by the light blue concrete is meant to allow the mosaic itself to breath through.
This Artwork is an effort to capture a hint of grace into solid materials, made of earth, fire, mixtures, colours.
