During my trip to Lomé, Togo (West Africa) in 2019 I visited the International Museum of African Art, this museum consists of several rooms with medium and large wood sculptures, as well as masks and other smaller scale objects in wood, stone and bone. The museum guide explained to me that there were sculptures that had been created for a sacred purpose and had been induced from spirits by means of sacred methods/rituals that often even involved the sacrifice of animals.
In my most recent production, a series entitled -Beyond Life, Death and Resurrection- is an organic creation that combines elements from different sources such as: oil paint, African masks, Machu Pichu stones, horse hair, feathers, clay, my own skin, leaves, candles, saliva, sweat and a variety of materials.
In this work I want to develop the concept of correspondence, I seek to approach the production process of the artisans of the villages, that my productions have a built-in spiritual power that invoke energies of healing, prosperity, protection, wisdom, enlightenment, clairvoyance, etc..
