Description

"Blue Spots and Gold" is a series of images consisting of blue color dots of various shades and dots of pure gold leaf (24 carat). The special blue color was achieved by using the historical photographic process of cyanotype. Each of these unique pieces was made on the finest French handmade paper with great care.
The inspiration for these images came from an avid collector who showed me a "spot painting" by Damien Hirst. This work impressed me so much that I decided to create something similar - with my own unique approach.
By using gold leaf, I explore the effect between matte paper surface and shiny gold. This creates delicate one-of-a-kind pieces that captivate the viewer.
The gold leaf used in this work also has a deeper meaning. It stands for the sun and the power that emanates from it. The sun is the source of all life and with this image should also give people new energy and inspire them to new ideas.
The images are serial unique and are numbered consecutively, it is intended as a "work in progress".

Concept

Since the early nineties, the German artist Joachim Andrae has been engaged in experimental art.
His current focus is on abstract art. His works are created in mixed media on handmade paper, using the historical photographic process of cyanotype, which he mixes with other media in the manner of photochemical painting. Through the partial use of gold leaf, he explores the effect between matte paper surface and shiny gold. This creates fine unique pieces that captivate the viewer.
Joachim Andrae is driven by the desire to try things out. He explores possibilities to create art that inspires others and enriches their lives.

Does this art work need a frame?

If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
