This work utilizes the property of plastic board to shrink in size when heated. After applying color to the plastic board with colored pencils, the board is heated in a toaster or similar device, resulting in a reduction in size to about one-fourth of the original image. I started this technique on a whim, but when I look at the way the colored pencil particles become darker in color by heating and are baked and fixed on the plastic plate, it looks like a cheap plastic fossil that is a realization of an image in my mind baked in, just as traces of ancient creatures become fossils after being compressed underground over a long period of time. I find it interesting. The work is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, but it is a condensation of my own romanticism. Someone somewhere once said, "The smaller the treasure, the more like it," and I agree.
