This artwork is one of the Brazilian Cerrado series. It was aplied pastel chalk of varied colours on paper. In this series of drawings, I used the technique of pastel chalk on Fabiano paper. I've been practicing it for quite a while and I enjoy it very much as it's a versatile material, in terms of light and shadow effects and for overlaying colours that when superimposed, subtly modify their original tone, which I find quite interesting.
I found inspiration to produce this series of drawings, in the natural habitat of the Chapada dos Guimarães region, Located até the National Park in Goiás, near Brasilia, in the center west region of Brazil. I was seduced to expressively reproduce what I felt with my spirit, through my eyes, with the sky, against the intense blue tones of the waterfall and the deep white foams formed by the strong shock of the water against the rocks that blends to the background of the savannah vegetation, creating an image that exudes the tropical spirit of the region.
This artwork is from January 2022, a drawing technique of pastel chalk on Fabriano paper. During my production process I used pastel pencils, and pastel chalk sticks of different overlaid colours. I chose this material, when representing my drawings, because it is a technique that I have mastered for a long time and mainly because it represents the vibrant and vivid colours that is a characteristic of my art, when I use contour lines and contrasts, inspired by the climate and culture of my country.
