The woodpecker is a wonderful little bird. She mainly leads an arboreal lifestyle. Sometimes when you walk through the forest, you hear how quickly a woodpecker knocks on a tree - this is how he gets his food. Surprisingly, this small bird has a long tongue (4 cm). Moreover, it is sticky, which allows woodpeckers to catch insects easily. He uses his tongue and beak to bring his prey to the surface. It turns out that woodpeckers rarely peck healthy trees, they choose withered and pest-damaged trees.
I decided to draw this unusual bird sitting on a forest branch. You can see small strokes of pastel pencils that emphasize each feather. With love and attention, I also drew the tail of the bird. Which serves the woodpecker not so much as a rudder when it flies as a support when it crawls up a tree. This bird relies on it so diligently that in a year of life the tail is worn out by about 10% of its original length. With pastel crayons, I have conveyed the character and mood of the painting, pensive and contemplative.
