The idea of representing a scene of such cruelty was born from the need I had at that time to express my doubts, second thoughts and above all the difficulties I was experiencing. The image that is represented is that of a Madonna with a veil over her face crying in despair, and I took inspiration from a photo of this statue, present in a cemetery. The cruelty of this drawing is born above all from the tears, in fact these are dug in her face, by now eroded by the rains also in other points of the face. The realization of this work was very difficult because of the face that was positioned to the side and the shadow that plays a fundamental role in making it real and impressive.
The technique with which this drawing was made is dotwork, that is, a set of dots fill the figure to give it depth and the dots are more numerous in the shadow areas.
The time taken by me to produce this work is about 80 hours.
The materials used are a sheet (48x33 cm) and indelible fountain pens with the tip from 0.05 cm to 0.5 cm.
