STATEMENT
In 1995, a process of plastic research and development of the spelling of indigenous peoples of South America began. Carrena has made a subtle observation of the visual energy that some signs transmit, and so she began a journey of personal discovery of images that allowed her to create new forms from that perception. An attentive follow-up of a "transformation in the sensory" that has been clearly reflected in his Work.
Reaching a New Image, formed by the combination of these primitive signs, perceived with a Contemporary vision. This is synthesis.
The artist works in series with different materials, but it is the image of the sign that remains in the background of each work. During his extensive career, he has incorporated into his interior a language that flows naturally, becoming a style and giving it a personal stamp.
Carrena shows us the variations of the sign in its image and expression as it has appeared in paintings, drawings, mixed media, sculptures, digital art, photography and designs on pots, screens and night tables. The sign is born and develops, depending on the surface and the material used in each work, therefore, it opens different series that then works in parallel and a distinctive feature is that, some are unfinished, to be retaken later or perhaps never.
The artist wants to express to us that "The works do not have time".
This vision of simultaneity in his Work, allows him to work many images and move from one technique to another, guided only by the image that is emerging. The artist merges with the sign and follows it where it takes it.
