This very fine, colorful ink drawing on acid-free paper combines my love of Italian architecture with that of the natural dwellings of Mediterranean sea creatures. The Casa Rossa Ximenes, a signal tower built over a river by the sea in the Tuscan Maremma in the 18th century, combines heaven, earth and water in perfect harmony for me. The little purple snail, a relic I found on the coast, also tells of the sea, but its architecture is also a dwelling that, also very old, could tell many stories.
