    Description

This drawing is created by folding Japanese paper to form a vessel-like shape and rolling a sphere dipped in sumi ink onto the folded paper. The two-dimensional surface of the paper is folded to form a three-dimensional solid, and the sphere is rolled onto it. The paper is then opened again and returned to the two-dimensional surface. This work expresses the aspect of gravity and dimension through drawing, taking into consideration the inter-dimensional movement of gravity based on recent research.

  • About this artist

    Concept

My work is based on "ma/wa" and "support theory". Ma" is used in various expressions such as the physical distance between something and something else, empty space, the space in time (rhythm and tempo) between consecutive things, and mental connections such as the regulation of communication between the mind and the heart. My "ma" includes all of these, but in an overall sense, it refers to something that synchronizes me with an object and works as something that influences my perceptual perception of the object. For example, the perceptual perception of "seeing" is as if one can see "there is an apple in front of me" through the light that comes and goes between the subject and the object. The "pause" refers to what the subject being (me) perceives through concrete, physical actions that I try to control while perceiving the "pause." The philosophy that considers the above "existence of what synchronizes" is my "support theory. The support is the material such as paper or panel in a painting. At the same time, it also exists as something that synchronizes the essence of art (the invisible) with the viewer (something that makes the viewer understand). The "theory of support" is that from a macro perspective, "everything exists in a temporary state as a support," including people, things, and the phenomena of the world, as well as the soul, and at the same time, from a micro perspective, "everything exists perfectly as a true state.
