  • About this artist

    Concept

Imai Atsushi creates oil and water colored pencil drawings on the theme of female homosexuality and identity, as well as detailed architectural landscapes made entirely of graphite. He portrays women at various stages of life, the fascinating beauty of adolescence, the complexity of young adulthood, and the elegance of women over the age of 30. He stays in gestures and sensations, capturing intimate moments in their daily lives. Japanese fashion and anime illustrations are the main source of inspiration, but the emotions and expressiveness conveyed through his subject carry a universal resonance.

Born in Ina City, Nagano Prefecture in 1973, and lives in Himeji City in 1975. Originally I wanted to be a manga artist, but I changed jobs in 1989 and worked as an illustrator and color pencil artist under the pseudonym TWO.AI until 1995 until I stopped working in 1995 due to the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
With the illustrations uploaded to SNS in 2014, I resumed my illustration activities for the first time in about 20 years as an artist specializing in idols. As a pencil drawing, it returned in earnest from 2015.He has participated in art fairs around the world, including the Art Fair Malaga 2017 in Spain since 2017.
The countries he has been introduced to so far are: Japan, USA, UK, Italy, France, Austria, Spain, Germany, Russia, Argentina, Taiwan, Australia, South Korea.
