Somewhere at the bottom of my nights
this is a line from a poem by the Ukrainian poet of the 1960s, Ivan Drach. The first ideas for the works were created while studying in Israel, as an attempt to get to know people or destroy myths about Ukrainian culture. The medium of communication became the poetry of the Ukrainian sixties, which is little known there.
In my work, I often turn to simple, naive motifs, images of various fictional, often zoomorphic characters. Such visual images easily arise from poems rich in aphorisms and metaphors. So later the idea turned into a full-fledged project. Works of their kind conduct a constant dialogue with poetry. The surrealism of some characters draws a line between the fictional, dreamy and real world.
The colors in the photo may differ slightly from the colors of the work.
