This is a series of A4 size portraits. Silkscreen manuscripts are created from woodblock prints and printed on canvas. ↓The following is a memorandum about the detailed works. Motif I have painted many people in the past, but I decided to paint portraits again. I decided to paint as many portraits as possible, not of anyone in particular, but of anonymous people whom I have met somewhere before. I wanted to unify the individuality of the faces as much as possible, and let the individuality of the people emerge through their hair and clothing. The people are all the same size and equally spaced in a row, but they are different from each other, and their colors are different from each other in the landscape. I aimed to create a work in which the contradictory concepts of "individuality" and "uniformity" exist at the same time. Screen division ・ The starting point was to divide the screen in half and divide it into upper and lower sections. The impetus came from a time when I was troubled by the pressure I felt to express one image per piece. One day, the idea of splitting the screen in two and drawing two images came to me. The idea came to me. From there, I feel that a lightness was born, both in the work and in my mood. The reason I titled the exhibition "People Under the Sky" came from the aforementioned division of the screen. By dividing the screen horizontally, a top and bottom were created, which naturally led to the image of the sky. The sky has many different colors. I wanted to highlight the individuality of the colors themselves by randomly arranging the expression of the sky on that day. Materials Recently, I have been concerned about how they should exist in a space. The keyword "tactile" naturally came to mind. The material used for the support is an untreated raw canvas. For example, when walking around town, some of the exterior walls of buildings you see are polished to a smooth surface, while others have an uneven plaster-like texture. As a person who sees images projected on the glass of a smartphone on a daily basis, I sometimes strongly feel the presence of things with this kind of tactile feeling. In this exhibition, I felt the need to emphasize the presence of objects as materials in space.
