Description

Glondink are a drug company specialising in the management of experiential extremes. They claim to have found ways to switch things on and off. It appears that they are warning us not to treat the concept of everyday colouration as an absolute. We can go along with this as far as it goes, but what colour is colourless ? They want us to think that those who think it is not a colour at all need to think again. Heady stuff.

[All artworks are printed on archive quality oyster paper and then professionally framed, with reinforced backing and museum standard acrylic/Perspex. The framing of the larger works alone costs around $2k. I personally supervise the production of each one. And each artwork is shipped in its own specially constructed packing case.]

Jakob Zaaiman's art is about discovering - and then revealing - the strange and disturbing hidden in the everyday and in the ordinary. From this point of view, everything else in art is either merely decorative or inconsequential. The strange and disturbing is where art has its true power to fascinate and enthrall.

He works mainly with photographs, some of them his own, and some found. These he works into digital collages. Each artwork is designed to house its own difficult but unsettling narrative; sometimes self-contained, sometimes reaching out to realms beyond itself. He likes to ‘mine’ a subject over time, returning to it now and then to see if he can find some other disconcerting angle to explore.

Does this art work need a frame?

In many cases, art works with a canvas stretched over a wooden frame can be displayed as is. Thin art works other than canvases are easier to frame. For any questions or concerns please chat us.

What kind of hardware should I use for hanging the artwork?

If you are concerned about repayment costs, such as when renting a house, wall pins and hooks that do not leave noticeable hole marks are available at major DIY Store and art supply stores.

If you want to hang a canvas with a hook, a hook type with a long hooking surface, such as a V-shaped type is recommended.

If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
