This engraving demonstrates the fusion of human places and wildlife. It is one of my artistic ways to show the problem of habitat loss for the many species in the world, caused by deforestation and human expansion. The composition is set in Bolzano, my city of origin. The title of this engraving in particular emphasizes the tusks of elephants. Ivory, called “White Gold”, is the precious material of the tusks, with which poachers trade. Unfortunately for this reason this species is in danger of extinction.
I completed this work with the technique of etching and aquatint, used to engrave this work. This copy for sale, on this fine paper, is part of a 10-copy printed edition.
