Description

Thirteen Buddhas involved in the underworld trial, considered in Japan during the Edo period. As Buddhas in charge of the thirteen times of memorial service, there are customs to decorate mainly Buddhist statues, such as the memorial service, with pictures that are mainly hanging scrolls. The picture is 14 Buddhas with Kobo Daishi (Kukai), the founder of the Shingon sect, centered on Dainichi Nyorai.
-While expressing the texture of Japanese painting with digital art using Adobe Illustrator, we are trying to draw most color planes with gradations without outlines, which is difficult with hand drawing.

Concept

I felt that the texture of Adobe illustrator was suitable for Japanese expressions, so I started to draw digital Buddhist paintings, but I excluded contours from Japanese paintings and were concerned with the composition of the surface by gradation. It's an expression that is impossible in the past. In addition, the basics of Buddhist paintings are to faithfully copy ancient paintings, but we believe that simply inheriting traditions is not a Buddhist painting, and we are aiming for new Shinto and Buddha paintings while protecting Buddhist ideas. Even though the appearance of Shinto and Buddha is similar to humans, it is not a human being, it is a precious person beyond humans, so it is considered unnecessary to add an extra humanity, and beautiful things should be expressed how beautifully.
