"Carmen-Juan"
In the 90s, I was fascinated by the art of Japanese ukiyo-e woodcuts, the works of Muranoba, Hokusai, the shunga style. In parallel, he explored German expressionism. I was inspired by the idea of synthesizing both styles
The erotic engraving turned out to be as filled with energy, expression and emotions as possible.
They are made in the "dry needle" technique, printed from an iron plate. The edge of the galvanized sheet has been finished with a chisel to create a torn edging that brings a state of tension and creates a special mood. The pattern was applied with a needle, without etching. I applied the paint with a brush and printed prints on Fabriano paper. As a result, we get a serial, but unique black and white print, each of which has a unique texture.
Post-conceptualism was very popular in the nineties and it seemed to us that we were at the forefront of the art movement.
