The notion of a sky god is very old and important to humanity. It's a concept found in many cultures around the world. man gains a sense of higher morality through an internal dialog with a superior being quite literally above him. Sky Gods are often seen as benevolent beings who bring good weather and harvests, but they can also be seen as wrathful beings who great harm. Without the sky god, one could argue there would be no acute sense of evil.
"(T)he chicken man's sky god" suggests our notions of divinity are necessarily a composite. Certainly a construct of our particular milieu, part childhood impressions (like that rubber duck), partly inherited mythology, some current affairs, and many undigested concepts.
