In 2005, a World Expo was held in Aichi Prefecture, Japan under the theme "Nature's Wisdom: Binding Humanity to Nature in the 21st Century. More than 22 million people attended over a six-month period. While only 17 years ago, it seems a time both thematically and organizational distant from today.
To help move so many people to a fairly remote valley area outside Nagoya, a new form of transportation, a driverless magnetic levitation train, called "Linimo" was created.
The train is still in operation and affords some beautiful sunset views, given the train runs through a valley and the area is subject to steep temperature changes.
"(T)rain into the sun" is based on a photograph taken on the train just outside the Toyota Automotive Museum in Nagakute, Japan. The photo was painstakingly converted to an oil paint style composition by hand.
