Carmen Juan
In the 90s I was fascinated by the art of Japanese ukiyo-e woodcuts, the works of Muranoba, Hokusai, the shunga style. In parallel, he explored German expressionism. I was inspired by the idea of synthesizing both styles and expressing it both on oil on canvas and in etching and performance. To do this, I chose the strategy of appropriating and rethinking the work of my favorite artists in the vein of post-conceptualism. He made a series of paintings and etchings, a number of performances and art objects.
