Commissioned magazine advertisement for guest house in Montana. Buy a limited edition artwork from Saatchiart.com/jhzaaiman. Glossy magazine advertisement for a mysterious off-the-beaten-track (air?) b&b in Montana. Should be interesting to try to find out what goes on there, and what it is all meant to signify. I don’t believe it’s a dog whistle; what breed of outsiders would respond to it ?

Jakob Zaaiman's art is about discovering - and then revealing - the strange and disturbing hidden in the everyday and in the ordinary. From this point of view, everything else in art is either merely decorative or inconsequential. The strange and disturbing is where art has its true power to fascinate and enthrall.

He works mainly with photographs, some of them his own, and some found. These he works into digital collages. Each artwork is designed to house its own difficult but unsettling narrative; sometimes self-contained, sometimes reaching out to realms beyond itself. He likes to ‘mine’ a subject over time, returning to it now and then to see if he can find some other disconcerting angle to explore.

If you are concerned about repayment costs, such as when renting a house, wall pins and hooks that do not leave noticeable hole marks are available at major DIY Store and art supply stores.

If you want to hang a canvas with a hook, a hook type with a long hooking surface, such as a V-shaped type is recommended.

If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
