[from the ‘Amazing Bible Photographs!’ series] The only two authenticated photographs of Yahweh, or Jehovah, known to exist anywhere in the world, despite the ontological difficulties associated with photographic likenesses of ethereal beings; (a) Yahweh caught unawares lying down on a slab one afternoon in a North Indian bedroom; and (b) Yahweh photographed on location in Moscow; both likenesses captured by unknown hands. (Top, centre) Two little Muslim girls waiting to have their clitorises removed, as part of a religious custom; (top right) a discarded chunk of indeterminate Greek machinery; (top, left) spiced South African sausage – otherwise known as Boerewors – with mashed potatoes; (below) glazed buns with poppy seeds; (centre, right) wok-fried pork chop in vegetable oil and crushed pepper; (bottom, right) bales of indeterminate material, possibly Arkansas cotton; (bottom, left) empty water barrels, most likely also in the Confederate South.
