Violet colour together with its ‘relatives’, such as purple or magenta, signifies both the end of the visible light spectrum and its beginning, being often perceived as a mixture of red and blue. This is similar to the symbolic duality of the beginning of spring. Dutch lilacs here, as a lyrical symbol of the awakening of nature and youth, bloom among cascades of dry cattail and hay that are reminiscent of farewell to winter. Thus, returning to the roots can be linked to the rethinking of the past and restarting the life-cycle.
